Aerial Services are related to applications that utilize the Helicopter's unique attributes and capabilities, namely hovering and low, slow flying (subject to helicopter type limitations and SA CAA regulations).
Therefore, VEH is in the position to provide aerial services for contracts such as:
- Providing an airborne law enforcement platform,
- Stolen vehicle tracking,
- Electricity powerline inspections,
- News Gathering for Television and Radio,
- Animal counts and fish spotting,
- Aerial photography.
VEH has particular experience and a dedication to providing Airborne Law Enforcement solutions and is a firm believer in the helicopter as an anti-crime tool for the following reasons:
Helicopters provide support in patrol, pursuit, surveillance, drug abatement, port patrol/immigration support and search and rescue.
The benefits of having an airborne law enforcement unit are:
- Rapid Response - Helicopters are usually the first on the scene,
- Enhancement of SAPS (Police) personnel and citizen safety,
- Increased Area Coverage - studies have shown that one helicopter unit is equal to 5 ground units,
- Is a highly visible deterrent to criminals.
The nature of the contract will determine the Helicopter type utilized and VEH will provide all the back-up for "unseens", that are at first not apparent when conducting such an operation. Crewing, rostering, maintenance, fueling and overall service delivery are all factors managed by VEH to the satisfaction of the client.
